Osage Nation Hominy Village Dance Arbor

Blue River Architects is the architect for the Hominy Village Dance Arbor. The open structure is used twice a day during the four days of the I’n-Lon- Schka Dances in June.
The dirt floor of the dance arbor is the original native soil that has been danced on for many generations. Dancer seating surrounds the dance floor, with a mandatory seat for each dancer. Existing family benches, created by each family, line the dancer benches, and are flanked by spectator seating.
Passive circulation is incorporated with a ridge vent in the roof to help pull the summer air out of the dance space.
